January 2026 Updates

Hi, everyone! I hope you had a happy January! My updates for this month are below.

  • I finally wrote another writing update! I guess my big writing updates are officially annual now. 😅
  • Although I feel like I read and wrote less this month, I did feel more motivated during the moments I did get around to reading/writing.

Thank you for reading my updates! You are welcome to share your writing and general updates in the comments! This month, I encourage you to support the LUCE Immigrant Network of MA, which operates an ICE watch and hotline, and the Rohingya Community Partners’ emergency fundraising campaign to support families who lost their shelters in a fire in Bangladesh. I also encourage you to support Reviving Gaza, a mutual aid network providing aid to people in Gaza. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Darcy's Writing Updates [1/25/2026]

Well, I guess these updates are now more or less officially yearly 😅. Anyways, welcome back! It's been quite a year and, as always, I hope you are all hanging in there. Writing went pretty well last year for me. I started writing regularly most mornings (or trying to) and I got back into writing fanfiction. I also started doing monthly updates for all of my accounts, and while they could be a lot of work, they were helpful in keeping me motivated and accountable.

Book Reviews:

★ I listened to the audiobook of The Fortunes of Jaded Women by Carolyn Huynh, which was an entertaining listen. You can read my review here.

★ I also listened to the audiobook of Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward, which was a very powerful story to engage with. My review can be found here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Short Story:

☆ I wrote one short story this year, which takes place in the world of Tranquila, the planet my sister and I created years ago. This story follow two sisters as one prepares to leave. You can read "A Thread of Change" here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Poems:

✶ With my poem, "Time," I returned to a character I created for a novella I outlined but never wrote back in high school. That novella had been all about ghosts and I continued that theme of grief with this poem. You can read it here.

✶ My poem "The Monster in the Book" wrestles with the monsters we see while we read. You can read the poem here.

✶ I wrote another poem based on a character from a second novel that I never finished writing in high school (you're probably seeing a pattern by now 🙃). This poem takes place on the planet Keldar, which I had created with my sister. You can read "Cycles" here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Screenplay:

✫ I wrote a short screenplay following a girl meeting a mysterious cat. If you have read some of my other works, you may remember this creature. You can read "The Cat in the Library" here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Essays:

✮ I wrote a short essay from the perspective of Wendy Stoneman, a character I created back when I was little. You can read "Adoption is Not My Story" here.

✮ I returned to Malia Blu in my short essay "Keys" as she handles a new discovery. You can read the essay here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Fanfiction:

✯ I wrote and published my first fanfiction since 2023. This fanfic takes place in the world of George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood and provides a glimpse into the end of Maegor the Cruel's headsman, gaolers, and confessors. You can read "Lavender" here.

✯ I wrote another Fire and Blood fic that asks questions regarding Rhaena and Viserys, children of Aenys, and how the violence they suffered under Maegor is perceived. You can read "The Witch and the Lamb" here.

✯ The third Fire and Blood fic I wrote is a bit more accessible for people who have not read the original text and follows a pair of washers, a maester, and two mothers in the aftermath of the accusations following Queen Jaehaera’s death. You can read "Lessons in Soup and Hands" here.

✯ The final Fire and Blood fic I wrote (at least for now) returns to Rhaena as she realizes a certain detail about Elissa a week after her brother Viserys' death. You can read "Memories on the Shore" here.

✯ I actually finished a longer fanfic I started back in 2020 about Kyoshi and Rangi from the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe. You can read "Love is Hard When You Are Young" here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Fun Fact: Venice in "The Cat in the Library" is the sister of Nusada and Clarisse, who showed up in my short story "The Door in the Woods."

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you find something that interests you!

December 2025 Updates

Hey, everyone! I hope you are having a good end to your year! It’s officially a year since I first started these updates, and I’m thankful for these updates in motivating me to read and write. My updates for this month are below.

  • I have a new poem and a new fictional essay available to read. My poem takes place on the planet Keldar, while my essay explores the thoughts of a young adoptee.
  • I am no longer updating my Wix websites. I just wasn’t using them that much, and they were kind of a hassle to manage. I’m also not a huge fan of all the emphasis on AI features. My main accounts will now just be my Tumblrs, Neocities, and Dreamwidths.

Thank you for staying with me this year! I hope you have a great New Year and please share your writing and general updates in the comments. This month, I encourage you to support the Barana Hanabneiho Organisation, a youth-led Sudanese organization that provides food, shelter, and education in underprivileged areas of Sudan. I also encourage you to support the Uyghur Wellness Initiative, which provides safe spaces for Uyghur communities, and the “We Got This” program, which is a Milwaukee-based community garden. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

November 2025 Updates

Welcome back! I hope you had a great November! My updates are below.

  • I was pretty productive when it came to writing at the beginning of the month, but that definitely dwindled a little as I got busier. I’m still happy with what I got done.
  • I was also fairly active on all of my Tumblr accounts, but definitely not as active as I was over the Summer.

That’s it for November! Let me know your general and writing updates in the comments! This month, I am once again encouraging you to donate to Khartoum Kitchen, which is directly running 12 kitchens in the Khartoum area in Sudan, and to follow Saroyah’s Twitter list for updates on the humanitarian crisis. I also encourage you to give to the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund, which is supporting Western Alaskan communities following devastating typhoons and storms in October. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

October 2025 Updates

Hello! Happy October! My updates are below.

  • I got more work done on my original writing this month, which I’m very happy about. I also did more reading, too.
  • I published two more fanfics, which you can read on my HongyueG accounts.

That’s it for this month! You are welcome to share your writing and general updates in the comments. This month, I encourage you to support The Needle of Hope, which raises money for Omar to tailor clothes for children in Gaza, the Sudan Solidarity Collective, which is raising money to support food distribution in El Fashir, and the Ohketeau Cultural Center, which is a Native-led cultural center that supports Indigenous people in Central and Western Massachusetts. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

September 2025 Updates

Hello, all! I hope you had a wonderful September! My updates are below.

  • Almost all of my creative energy has been going to fanfic recently, but I did manage to get some work done on my original writing. I wish I had done some more reading though, so hopefully next month, my attention will be more evenly split.
  • On the other hand, I’ve definitely slowed down on my Tumblr reblogging as I’ve gotten busier writing and researching for my fic ideas.

That’s it for this month. Feel free to share your general updates in the comments! This month, I encourage you to support AIDESEP, an organization in Peru that supports the rights of Indigenous peoples along the Amazon. It appears that you need a Peruvian identification number to support them financially through their website, but you can follow their social media accounts for more information about their actions. I also encourage you to support On the Rise, a Massachusetts community and Safe Haven for women, transgender, and nonbinary people moving through homelessness, and to follow Refugees in Niger, which brings attention to the Black African refugees protesting the neglect and human rights abuses they are facing in Agadiz. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

August 2025 Updates

Hello, everyone! I hope your August went well! My updates for this month are below.

  • For better or worse, I was comparatively much more active on all of my Tumblr accounts. I think for most of them, you will need to scroll back at least a page to see my last monthly update. I’ve also been busy writing, especially for a few new fanfic ideas I have.
  • I went back and edited all of my websites’ bio sections to more closely align with my current thoughts and feelings. As always, I am an ever-evolving person, so my bios will certainly change again in the future as I grow and develop.

Thank you for reading my updates! I’m sorry they’re always so bland for this blog. Anyways, let me know your general updates in the comments! This month, I encourage you to check out the National Black Food & Justice Alliance, a coalition supporting Black self-determination and food sovereignty in the US. Additionally, The Okra Project is a mutual aid collective supporting Black Trans folks through food and housing security and mental health support. I also urge you to support the Rohingya Community Partners’ fundraiser to run a training program for Rohingya refugee youth and girls. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

July 2025 Updates

Hello, all! I hope you had a good July. My updates for this month are shared below.

  • I actually reblogged things on all of my Tumblrs this month! I’ve also been inspired to write and edit more, and I even posted a new fanfic, which you can read on my Darcy Hongyue accounts.
  • I also ended up re-reading the “About Me” sections on my websites and realized I definitely need to update them. I wrote most of my bios back when I was a freshman in high school, and then edited them when I started college. I’m now out of college and working full-time, and my understanding of myself and the world has fortunately grown much since those days, so it’s time for website refreshes! Hopefully, I’ll get those done in time for my August updates!

Well, thank you for reading my updates! I’m sorry that my Darcy Directory ones are usually so dull. At this point, I’m basically writing these just for myself 😅. Anyways, feel free to share any general updates you have in the comments. This month, I urge you to support USCPR’s Water Is Life Gaza campaign, which is a Palestinian-led project that delivers clean water to families displaced by Israel’s ongoing genocide. I also encourage you to support Refugees in Libya, an organization advocating for refugees throughout North Africa and Europe. Finally, please support the Massachusetts Bail Fund, which is an abolitionist direct service organization that pays bail for those who cannot afford it. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

June 2025 Updates

I can’t believe I’m already at my seventh monthly update! Time is going by so fast! My updates for June are below.

  • I got some writing done, and I’m starting to feel more motivated to write, so hopefully I’ll be able to post some of my writing soon!
  • I do have a couple of book reviews that I wrote a few months ago that I hope to have posted by my next update! Fingers-crossed!

Thank you for checking out my updates! Feel free to share any writing or general updates you have in the comments. This month, I encourage you to donate to the Sameer Project, a Palestinian initiative working to provide medical aid, supplies, and food in Gaza. Also, please check out ‘Āina Momona, a community organization working toward environmental health, social justice, and Hawaiian sovereignty. Thirdly, Hope Relief and Rehabilitation is a Sudanese organization supporting people with disabilities, particularly in the Nuba Mountains, where famine has been declared. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

May 2025 Updates

I hope you are all doing well this May! I have shared my updates below.

  • Honestly, I did not get as much writing done as I hoped to due to a certain silly “hole” I fell into. See my HongyueG update for more details. 😅
  • On that note, I also did not reblog as much as I usually do. I wish that meant I spent my time doing more productive tasks, but alas.

Anyways, thank you for stopping by! Feel free to leave any general updates or writing updates you have below! This month, if you live in the US, I encourage you to contact your congresspeople to urge action regarding the ongoing forced famine in Gaza here and to advocate against cutting SNAP here. Please also review Saroyah’s Twitter list here for updated information regarding the continuing humanitarian crisis in Sudan. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

April 2025 Updates

I hope this April has found you well! I have shared my updates for this month below.

  • I have created a Darcy Directory Neocities site and Wix blogs for all of my Darcy Directory accounts. You can find the links on my Carrd.
  • I noticed I reblogged more this month on all of my accounts than the previous two months.

Thank you for stopping by my updates! You are welcome to share your own updates in the comments. This month, I encourage you to support the Basandja Coalition, which lifts the voices of Indigenous and local communities in the Congo Basin, and FiveforFive, a collective fund for trans women in the UK. Also, please check out AILA’s immigration advocacy resources. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.
